I live in Raunds with my son and have done so for the last 15 years. I have been a Town Councillor in Raunds for 3 years now. What motivated me to become a Town Councillor was the fact that Raunds is my home and I am passionate about making Raunds a place where people will continue to want to come and live, work and bring their business’s to. Raunds is a good friendly Town. The Town’s people come out in force every year for the Remembrance Sunday Parade, which is always great to see. I have a great interest in the Youth of the Town but also I am very community orientated. I have supported the local Sure Start centre for 5 years now, this is centre provides an excellent range of services to support local families.
I am the current Mayor and am looking forward to being part of the ‘Chain Gang’…… I have been to several Civic Events already and have met some really nice people. I even spoke to the a Mayor who was at school with my cousin up in North Wheatley, near Retford… it is such a small world we live in.
I have worked and volunteered in the Town of Raunds and current still reside on the Manor Sure Start Centre’s Advisory Board as well as being a Town Councillor.
I am also a member of Raunds Arts Group and with my colleague Peter Wathen (also a Raunds Town Councillor) we brought a Youth Production of Les Miserables to Raunds in July 2013. It was very good to see the Saxon Hall converted into a Theatre environment. The show was a great success. The Youth of Raunds and Northamptonshire did themselves and us proud.
I intend to do my very best to be a good ‘face for Raunds’ as your Mayor and I am looking forward to working with my fellow Councillors in this coming year.
Together I hope we will make a positive difference to Raunds.
